See you in the Fast lane!

This Sunday, January 9, 2011 I will begin a 21 day spiritual fast along with several thousand other people.   What a great way to start 2011!  For those of you reading and asking yourself huh? what is she talking about? Basically a spiritual fast is abstaining from food for a spiritual purpose.  There are many ways to fast ranging from not eating or drinking anything but water to removing just one food or drink (caffeine for example) from their daily intake.  My fast will include fruits and vegetables and water.  Of course, I will continue to use my awesome vitamins and symbiotic diet because they are all natural.  However, caffeine, chocolate, and sugar are all out!

Is this part of my weight loss journey as well?  Yes and no.  Fasting has several benefits- pretty much everywhere you look there are ads for this cleanse and that detox treatment.  A fast does all of that naturally and is beneficial to the physical body.  I say No because this is not my main focus, just a benefit of it.

There are several reasons for a spiritual fast ranging from seeking God to understanding your purpose.  It is my belief that we all should fast.  See, Matthew 17:21 Mark 9:29, Matthew 4:2. This is my third year corporately (fasting with a group) in January. My focus for this fast will be for guidance with my role as a wife, mother and woman.

The fat truth is taking away food is hard.  I also am the only one in my house that will be fasting- so there will be regular meals prepared.  Therefore, after much consideration I felt the need to share this part of my journey with you is for accountability.  I will be writing and/or videoing a daily blog through this journey sharing my insights and the process of my fast.  I hope you will all stop by to read and watch! :)

With love and gratitude,

Wendy

  1. Wendy -
I give you all the credit in the world and I will keep you in my prayers. I would say I "can't" do something like this, but that's not true, I am not "willing" to do this at this time. I can't imagine the temptation of having to prepare food and having it all around me. God Bless.
